THE UNITED CENTER – CHICAGO, IL

DSC04716

The United Center is the home of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks.  On this visit I watched the Chicago Bulls play, and beat, the Golden State Warriors.  It was my first game of the season, and boy was it a good one.  It was pretty awesome seeing Dwyane Wade, Jimmy Butler, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green all on one court.  Seeing Dwyane Wade in a Bulls uniform was also pretty nice.

Upon arriving at the stadium I was surprised to see that they no longer serve Digiorno’s Pizza.  The Digiorno’s they used to serve was simply amazing.  Since the United Center got rid of the awesome DiGiorno’s I knew that the replacement had to be good, and good it was.

The stadium now has two types of pizza.  They have a wood-fired pizza called WoodGrin Neapolitan Pizza and Connie’s Pizza.  Connie’s Pizza is popular around Chicago and ISO also served at the WNBA’s Chicago Sky Games at Allstate Arena.  The pizza is very good.  It is so good that I could not try it because all of the concession stands were sold out.  I do know that the pizza served is deep dish.  If it is anything like the pizza sold at Allstate Arena it is very good.

I managed to get the very last pizza at Woodgrain and it was amazing.  The pizza was simply phenomenal. They make each pizza in a wood fired oven to order.  The pizza is super fresh and very limited.  The pizza may be the best stadium pizza I have ever had.   They have some standard combinations but they will make you a custom pizza if you ask.  The location of Woodgrain is on the first level not far down from the Chicago Bull’s store, The Bull Market.  There is a nice eating area by the bar if you don’t want to take it back to your seat.

If you are ever at the “Madhouse on Madison” I highly recommend eating the pizza.  You will not be disappointed.  Upon my next visit I will eat the Connie’s Pizza.  I will remember to get it early because it will not last long.

ORACLE ARENA – OAKLAND, CA

Oracle Arena is the home of the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors.  The Golden State Warriors are claimed by all of the Bay Area, however they are located in Oakland, CA, where they are beloved.  Oakland is just across the bay from San Francisco so it is easy to visit San Francisco and make a quick trip to Oakland to see the Warriors.

I recently attended a Warriors game during a visit to San Francisco.  The goals of my visit were two-fold: one, to watch Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson and the rest of the Warriors in the venue where they rarely lose; and two, to sample the pizza at the stadium.

I successfully achieved both goals.  Neither the pizza nor the players disappointed me.  The pizza served at the stadium is Slices & Suds Pizza.  The pizza is simply delicious.  I was hoping that the pizza served would be Round Table Pizza, which is served at O.co Coliseum, which is the home of the Oakland Raiders and Oakland A’s, and is conveniently located right next to Oracle Arena.

I do believe that the pizza made by Slices & Suds is slightly better than the Round Table Pizza.  While both pizzas are very good, the sauce and the cheesiness of the pizza truly set it a part from the competition.  When I first started eating the pizza it was a little to chewy, but then I continued to eat it and it was simply fantastic.  The chewiness makes it fun to eat and it makes you sad when it is gone.  I truly enjoyed the pizza and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the tomato sauce.

While I was a little concerned with the price of the pizza ($9.75 per slice), I was happy with the quality of the pizza I received for my money.  If you are visiting Oracle Arena to see the Warriors I highly recommend eating the pizza.  I recommend purchasing the pizza at the main Slices & Suds location which is on the west side of the lower level of the stadium.

BMO HARRIS BRADLEY CENTER – MILWAUKEE, WI

BMO Harris Bradley Center is located in Milwaukee, WI and is the home of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, the Marquette University NCAA Division 1 men’s basketball team, and the AHL’s (American Hockey League) Milwaukee Admirals.  The stadium is located in the heart of Milwaukee’s downtown.

I had the pleasure of visiting the BMO Harris Bradley Center when I attended a game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Golden State Warriors.  The game just so happened to be the game where the Bucks snapped the Warriors’ 28 game winning streak.  The game was a phenomenal game and the pizza was simply amazing and matched the intensity of game itself.

The BMO Harris Bradley Center serves Palermo’s Pizza and it is simply delicious.  The area where the pizza is served has an area that resembles a traditional pizza house complete with the red and white checkered table cloths.  The stadium serves pepperoni, sausage, and cheese pizzas by the slice.  The pizza is very fresh, simply because they sell it as quickly as they make it.

When entering the stadium one would not assume that the pizza would be as good as it is, given the age and the asthetics of the arena.  The stadium has terrible lighting and is like a giant cinderblock, however the pizza simply cannot be beat.  The pizza served at the BMO Harris Bradley Center is some of the best pizza I have ever been served at a stadium.  The pizza served at Miller Park in Milwaukee is also Palermo’s, however the pizza is not as good as the pizza served at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

There are so many good things that I can say about the Palermo’s pizza at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.  The sauce is simply perfect.  They put just the right amount of sauce and cheese on the pizza.  There is nothing on the pizza that overpowers the other ingredients.  The cheese is also quite good.  Given the freshness of the pizza, and the fact that I purchased my second slice at the end of the game and it was still was still fresh, I must say that the pizza cannot be beat.

As I stated previously, I had some of the best stadium pizza that I have ever had at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee.  If you are visiting the center for a Milwaukee Bucks, Marquette Golden Eagles Men’s Basketball, or Milwaukee Admirals game I highly recommend eating the pizza at the stadium.

Also, as I stated previously I was attending a game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Golden State Warriors.  The game was an instant classic and it wasn’t too bad seeing Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andre Iguodala play during their record setting season.  It was also nice watching Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson driving to the basket and hitting threes (although they did not hit many that game).

Enjoy the Palmero’s pizza at the game.
